A mercane device often tossed in as a bonus with the purchase of a mercane hull. This desk sized device contains a map similar to a system display. When a ship carrying a locator enters a crystal sphere the device immediately tracks the major celestial bodies of that sphere and displays them.

The planetary locator does not track bodies smaller than size B, but should those be encountered their information can be entered manually and then displayed.

Planetary locators also display asteroid bases and settlements that chose to be located by installing locator beacons. In some systems beacons have been stolen by the neogi and other marauders and are used to trap unwary travelers.
